Episode 7
Waheguru.
Let us talk about our lives, your life and my life.
Be happy like a flower, dancing on it's stem.
Be deep, like the passing away of all things.
Professor Puran Singh Ji writes to his friend, just a few lines.
Be deep, like the passing away of all things.
When somebody; something dies, some person, bird or a tree, it feels like they have not gone anywhere, they have just descended down to their roots from where they emerged. For the worldly people this is a poem, like so many other poems people write.
He says, meditate and go deep into meditation, because if you want to know who you are, if you want to realise your true being, then you have to die. Not that worldly death, no.
You have to die from the life you are living now. You have to go through another door, in order to see yourself, who you are, and that door is through meditation and through deep silence.
By remaining the same, nothing can change. We will remain the same. That's the misfortune of the world, they want to live like they are living, and they also want to meet God. It cannot happen!
How beautiful it is. He says go deep into meditation. Become dead to the outer world. In that deep silence, you will enter into another world, the world of Truth.
Be happy like a flower, on it's stem.
You would feel like a flower dancing on it's stem, in that world of Truth. Totally blissful. Total bliss. Now you are dancing at your stem. Away from the earth, the worldly life. No misery, no suffering, no anguish, no fear can touch you.
Be overjoyed like a bird, on the branch of a tree.
There it would be natural for you to sing, like a bird sings on the branch of its favourite tree. How beautiful. To the worldly person, this would sound like one of the poems, so many people write poems, but how deep it is. How deep.
My ways of living are ill-ways. I'm living like the world, living out of my mind, which is always entangled in greed, attachment, lust, anger, ego. All those things.
But I have heard there is another world, the world of truth, which is the world of my Beloved and also my world, too, but I don't have those virtues to go into that world.
When I dwell within you, I am utterly at peace. The whole universe is nothing, but the expanse of truth, the truth itself. Even science knows that the whole universe is filled with universal consciousness, that is God.
Whenever I dwell within You, my Beloved, I am always very peaceful.
I was amazed to hear from somebody, that many people who are accustomed to living out of their minds, they don't even know what peaceful is.
The skies are nothing, but the Divine Himself. Even the science knows that the whole universe is filled with Divine or universal energy or consciousness. Energy is not the right word. Universal consciousness.
We are always within Him, but because we are always thinking, we don't know that we are already within God.
So, when I become aware that I am within You, I am sitting within You, I'm standing within You, I'm walking within You, I'm talking within You; I feel so peaceful.
The way the Divine has designed us, that to live human life, the consciousness naturally stays in the vertical position, which means in the moment.
So, meditation… to live in the moment, to come in the moment, to have the consciousness in a vertical state and ascending, that is our natural way.
But because we went astray, we forgot what is our natural way. Now our ways are not natural ways, they are the ways of the world.
Naturally, it is natural for us to be in the present. It's natural for us not to think about the past, or worry about the future, it's natural, but we are living unnaturally.
Now, many times during the day, we must check am I dwelling my natural way?
I was saying that during the Second World War, estimated of six million Jews were killed in camps, in gas chambers, in various ways. One of the prisoners, his name was Viktor Frankl.
His parents, his brother, his wife, were all killed in the camp. It was so horrible, even to live in those camps.
And one day, Viktor felt some weak movement within him. He stopped and started feeling that. He felt peaceful. So then every day, he would meditate and feel that movement within; that was the Divine Himself.
So he united with the Divine, with Divine's grace and his efforts he became so peaceful. The outside happenings did not disturb him. He became so peaceful.
He wrote a book called *’the last freedom of humans’; that freedom from the mind, until we become free of the mind, we will remain in its prison and its prison is so horrible.
When we meditate, when we come in our natural state of being, our consciousness moving vertically, we have become really free. Liberated. Emancipated. That's what enlightenment is. Liberation.
*The book title is: ‘Man's Search for Meaning’
